Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) CEO Brian Roberts started off the companys earnings call by acknowledging the rampant reports that the company is on the verge of purchasing a stake in NBC Universal (NYSE: GE). Roberts said he could not comment on what he referred to as rumors. But he said that the company would only look at opportunities in its core businesses that could accelerate growth and provide scale.
