Office Of Fair Trading Will Investigate Brightsolid Acquisition Of Friends Reunited

SCOTSMAN – Nov 3 – OFT decided yesterday to refer Brightsolid's £25 million acquisition of ITV's Friends Reunited to the Competition Commission. The deal includes the core website, Friends Reunited, Friends Reunited Dating, and OFT's point of contention, Genes Reunited. OFT claims this deal will greatly reduce the competition in the genealogy sector. ITV originally purchased Friends Reunited in 2005 for £175m.
