Many gamers result to playing MMORPG's (massive multi player online role playing games) because they have simply ran out of any other games to play. Once gamers have beaten all there games for console and other computer games they have nothing to do but brag to there freinds about it, however, with MMORPG's the game never ends giving that feeling of being the best and still having a challenge, allowing companys like Blizzard to make a monopoly on Gamers who simply can not stop playing because they want to become the best. Gamer's do not relize it but they will never become the best because the game never ends, with updates and new items brought into the game every month or so, gamers keep trying to gain the newest items and etc... inorder to become the, "best".
