Senator Barack Obama commitment to CWAs four key issues.voltagerocks6 min - Jun 26, 2008On Monday CWA delegates committed their energy and resources and pledged to work "as never before" to elect Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.
While John McCain and Barack Obama are both good men, Senator Obama offers the best opportunity to transform our countrys political landscape and restore the rights, dignity and financial security of American workers and their families.
Senator Obama has made clear his commitment to CWAs four key issues -- the Employee Free Choice Act, universal health care, fair trade and good jobs, and financial security for retirees -- and he has proven his ability to energize millions of people across the country, unite voters across party lines and bring many new people into the political process.
Watch this video of Senator Obama thanking CWA membership for our support at our convention on of our members have told us of the respect they have for John McCains service to our country, and I share in that respect. But when it comes to the issues most important to working families, the differences between Senator Obama and Senator McCain couldnt be clearer.
Senator Obama has pledged to support and sign the Employee Free Choice Act, strengthening the ability of unions to organize workers. John McCain opposes this legislation.
Senator Obama has put forth a health care plan that would lower costs and help millions of uninsured Americans get coverage. John McCains health care proposal would make a bad situation worse, weakening the employer-based insurance system and forcing millions to seek coverage on their own in the private market.
Senator Obama offers fair trade and economic policies that would strengthen the middle class, invest in good American jobs, and help millions realize the American dream. John McCains economic proposals are more of the same -- tax cuts for the wealthy and unqualified support for trade agreements that hurt American workers.
Finally, Senator Obama is committed to guaranteeing the solvency of Social Security, while John McCain has proposed privatizing the Social Security system.

Change is having a President whos been an organizer... and who lets unions do what they do best and organize our workers. Thats what change is and thats the choice in this election.
In November the American people will choose between the failed policies of the past and new ideas for the future. We at CWA will work tirelessly to ensure our country makes the right choice and elects Barack Obama the next President of the United States.
In Solidarity,
Larry Cohen
President, CWA
